Innovating Creativity + Engineering: Robots and Art
TecnoLatinx hosted a unique and inspiring event, Robots and Art, where 12 high school students—and one exceptionally talented middle schooler—joined an after-school robotics intensive at Self Help Graphics and Art. This collaborative program brought together computer science and art students for a robotics challenge: designing and building robot-led parade floats. Students worked creatively while managing real-world constraints, such as haul and weight balance, to bring their innovative visions to life.
The workshops were supported by a diverse and skilled TecnoLatinx team, including UCLA College Corps Fellows, Mendez High School teachers, and artists from Self Help Graphics. Leading the robotics coding session was an inspiring teen founder who generously volunteers her time and knowledge to ignite excitement for robotics among her peers.
This fun and educational environment was further enriched by local catering, showcasing TecnoLatinx’s commitment to supporting the hardworking community. Robots and Art exemplifies the power of creativity, technology, and collaboration in inspiring the next generation of engineers, artists, and innovators.
