Collaborative Immersive Experience at the Art Center College of Design’s Immersion Lab
This summer, TecnoLatinx had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with the Immersion Lab at the Art Center College of Design, diving deep into the cutting-edge world of immersive technologies. The lab’s mission to blend physical and virtual realities aligns perfectly with our focus on empowering underserved communities through XR and emerging tech.
Guided by the talented staff at the Immersion Lab, our team participated in an open, collaborative exchange that explored the potential of haptics, Unity-based XR projects, Gaussian splatting, 3D scanning technologies, and more. The experience provided a hands-on opportunity to work with various XR platforms, including the Meta Quest, HTC Vive, Snap Spectacles, Apple Vision Pro, HoloLens, and Leap Motion, offering students an immersive view of how these tools can be integrated to design next-generation digital experiences.
Our team, consisting of the TecnoLatinx co-founders and a cohort of TecnoLatinx's UCLA College Corps Fellows, including a UCLA art student from the School of Art and Design, worked together to push the boundaries of what’s possible in XR. With access to this diverse set of tools and resources, we tested and prototyped innovative ideas, gaining valuable insights into how XR can be used to create more inclusive, sustainable, and imaginative futures.
